Looking at veneers in Manchester? This is the page that walks you through it properly. Veneers are thin shells bonded to the front of your teeth to fix chips, stains, small gaps and worn edges, and they come in two main forms, porcelain and composite. We’ve placed thousands of them at KissDental since 2005, so here’s an honest look at the types, the process, how long they last, and what shapes the cost.
The first choice is the material, and it changes almost everything else.
Porcelain veneers, including eMax, are made in a dental laboratory from fine ceramic. They’re strong, they resist staining well, and they catch the light like natural enamel, which is why they’re the go-to for a full, uniform smile.
Composite veneers are built up on the tooth in the same appointment using a tooth-coloured resin. They cost less, they’re quicker, and they can often be done without removing much tooth structure. The trade-off is that resin picks up stain over time and won’t last as long as ceramic.
Neither is simply better. The right one depends on your teeth, your budget and how much change you want.
Veneers suit teeth that are basically healthy but not looking their best. Good candidates have chips or cracks, stubborn discolouration that whitening won’t shift, minor gaps, or slightly uneven edges.
If there’s active decay or gum disease, we treat that first, because a veneer belongs on a stable foundation. Heavy grinding matters too, and we’ll talk through a night guard if that’s you. Where teeth are quite crooked, straightening with Invisalign before veneers can mean a more conservative result with less enamel removed.
Porcelain veneers are usually a two-visit treatment. At the first appointment we plan the smile, prepare the teeth by taking back a slim layer of enamel, and take exact impressions. These go to a skilled laboratory technician who crafts each veneer by hand.
At the second visit we check the fit and colour, then bond the veneers into place and polish them. You walk out with the finished result.
Composite veneers are typically done in a single visit, since the resin is shaped directly onto your teeth and set with a curing light there and then.
Veneers are a versatile treatment option and can be used for:
Closing small gaps between teeth
Making your teeth appear straighter
Covering cracks and chips
Protecting damaged teeth from decay
Making your smile brighter
Improving the proportion of your teeth
With good care, porcelain veneers last many years and often well over a decade. Composite veneers have a shorter lifespan and may need a refresh or polish sooner, though they’re also simpler to repair.
Longevity comes down to habits. Brush and floss as normal, keep up your hygienist visits, go easy on very hard foods, and protect your teeth at night if you grind. Look after them and they’ll look after you. There’s more on this in 7 things nobody tells you about getting veneers.
People often weigh veneers against composite bonding, and they overlap, so here’s a straight comparison to help you decide.
Best for. Porcelain veneers: full smile makeovers, lasting change. Composite bonding: single teeth, chips, small gaps.
Appointments. Veneers usually two. Bonding often one.
Stain resistance. Veneers high. Bonding moderate, picks up stain over time.
Lifespan. Veneers many years, often 10 plus. Bonding shorter, easy to refresh.
Relative cost. Veneers higher. Bonding lower.
If you want the biggest, most durable change across your whole smile, porcelain veneers win. If you’re fixing one or two teeth on a smaller budget, bonding is often the smarter call.

All the staff in the practice were Lovley and super welcoming. And everything I needed was always posted out to me and they were super accommodating as I live quite far from the practise.

Veneer cost depends on the material, how many teeth you’re treating, and the detail of the work involved. Porcelain sits higher than composite, and eight or ten veneers cost more than two.
We don’t publish a flat figure because your quote should match your mouth, not an average. What we can say is that you can spread payments with finance, which is how many patients approach a larger case.

Cost depends on whether you choose porcelain or composite, and how many teeth you treat. Porcelain costs more than composite, and a full smile costs more than a couple of teeth. Book a consultation for an exact quote, and ask about spreading it with finance.
No, though porcelain veneers do involve removing a thin layer of enamel, which doesn’t grow back. That’s why we plan carefully and, where possible, use more conservative options. Composite veneers usually need little or no enamel removal.
Porcelain veneers commonly last well over ten years with good care. Composite veneers have a shorter lifespan but are easy to repair or refresh. Daily brushing, hygienist visits and avoiding habits like grinding all extend their life.
Neither is better outright. Porcelain is stronger, more stain-resistant and longer-lasting, so it suits full smile makeovers. Composite is cheaper, quicker and easier to fix, so it suits smaller changes. We’ll recommend the right one for your teeth.
Yes. Many people have a single veneer to match a chipped or discoloured tooth to its neighbours. Colour matching is key here, and it’s often why we whiten first so the veneer blends with a brighter natural shade.
