Gum contouring is a quick cosmetic treatment where we reshape the gum line to reveal more of your teeth and even out a gummy or uneven smile. At Kissdental in Manchester it is usually a single short appointment, and you can often see the new gum line straight away.

Gum contouring is the careful reshaping of the gum tissue around your teeth to improve how your smile looks. We remove or reshape a small amount of gum so the line is even and your teeth look longer and better proportioned. It is a cosmetic treatment carried out under local anaesthetic so you stay comfortable, and because we are working only on the soft tissue it is usually quick, with results you can see soon after.
Gum contouring suits people whose smile shows too much gum or whose gum line is uneven across the front teeth. A gummy smile, where the gums dominate when you smile, can make healthy teeth look short, and reshaping the line brings the teeth forward visually. It also helps when one or two teeth look out of balance with their neighbours.
At your consultation we check that your gums are healthy first, because contouring is a cosmetic step, not a treatment for gum disease. If your gums need attention first, we will talk you through periodontal treatment before any reshaping.

We start with a consultation to look at your gum line, talk through the shape you want, and check your gums are healthy.
We plan the new gum line with you so you know what to expect.
We numb the area with local anaesthetic so you stay comfortable.
We reshape the gum tissue carefully to the agreed line.
We give you simple aftercare advice for the days that follow.
Many cases are completed in a single short visit.
Recovery is usually quick and mild. The treated gums may feel tender for a few days and can look a little different while they settle, which is normal. We will give you aftercare advice, such as eating softer foods for a short while and keeping the area clean and gentle, and the gums settle into their final shape over the following weeks. Most people get back to normal routines straight away and notice the new smile line immediately.

Super professional, friendly and very helpful. Providing advise and guidance when I needed it and giving me all my options. The reception staff were super lovely and made every visit a joy! I usually hate the dentist but I enjoyed every visit and I won’t be going anywhere else from now one!

I have never liked my smile it was very gummy and looked uneven, but today I had crown lengthening surgery, the difference is unbelievable! Dr Kailesh Solanki made me feel very welcome and relaxed and talked me through every step! I can’t wait to be fully healed! By far the best dentist I’ve ever seen! Highly recommend to anybody! Dr Dashtgard did a great job and has given me a huge boost of confidence. Despite the 40-minute journey to get to Altrincham, I will be continuing with my regular appointments with Chloe and Omid, it is definitely worth it. My favourite dental practice ever!
I had the best experience with kiss dental I chose dr Callum Coombs and he did an amazing job with my composite veneers I couldn’t be happier. I for one have always been scared of the dentist but from start to finish the whole experience was nothing but 10/10. I would highly recommend. All the staff in the practice were Lovley and super welcoming. And everything I needed was always posted out to me and they were super accommodating as I live quite far from the practise.
Fantastic practice! I was greeted by Sarah, Gabby and Shelbie who were all very welcoming and made sure I was seen promptly. Reza and Caitlyn carried out the dental procedure diligently and efficiently. Great experience, highly recommend to those putting off their visit to the dentists!
